Tuesday Macie update!

Shortly after I finally got a painkiller in to her last night, Macie insisted she be let into the bedroom, and went straight into her crate.  I tied her cone on and closed the door, and she got quickly to snoozing.

I'd set my alarm early (for me) to get her next pill in to her, but when I checked on her, she was still sleeping peacefully, so I waited until she woke up on her own.  As soon as she wanted out into the room, I held the saucer of pumpkin and now-dissolved-painkiller out to her, and she gulped it down, as well as the saucer of wet food that I'd also tried to hide a pill in before.

She had her fwappity fwappity tail back, and her eyes looked much more like her, and she trotted to the back door like nothing was wrong, and waited while I put on my boots and coat (and took off her cone).  As soon as we walked outside, though, she sat in the snow with a look of "I thought I was alright, but I don't think I'm alright."  When she started to shiver, I tried to coax her back inside, but it was quite an ordeal to convince her (I didn't want to risk picking her up and falling in the snow).

She finally got coaxed inside, and went through all her usual pre-breakfast routine.  I only gave her half a breakfast, just in case, but she ate normally.

Later, she wanted to go outside again, but I had to get Jasper to Ruff Haus before their lunch break, and I didn't trust that I could get her in and out quickly enough, so I apologized profusely, popped her cone back on and put her in her crate – on her way there, she looked like she was gonna try to jump on the damned bed, but I headed her off from that bad idea.  She went in super-willingly and lay down.  As I was getting Jasper ready to go to "school", I could hear the cats tentatively going into her room to check things out.  ❤️

Dropped Jasper off at school, picked up some more pills from Simcoe Veterinary Hospital and a weighted blanket from Iris, and went to let her out of the crate, but she was having none of it.  So she's snoozing again, and hopefully that helps her recover.

I'm off to an appointment, and will leave her under the watchful eye of the Catpulets.  When I get back, I'll see if she wants to try the great outdoors again (although will probably shovel a better path for her first, so we aren't leaving TOO many deposits so close to the back door!).

* Update:  She left her crate and now is power cuddling with me on the floor. I can’t feel my leg, but happy to give her all the loving she needs.
