A great man has left this world

Anyone who's known me through childhood, and anyone who's followed my writings will know of my Uncle Tim who, along with his late wife, my Aunt Sherry, were my godparents, and took care of me when my parents could not.
He and I had clashes, for sure, but there was never any doubt that he cared for me always, and wanted what was best for me (even when he was totally wrong, LOL...)
I only realized when re-reading my diaries for some "Music For the Changing Voice" audio just how many times and in how many ways the two of them stepped in. The 'cast album' was dedicated to Aunt Sherry, and we had to interrupt recording so I could attend her funeral. I always knew when he was listening to that CD, because he would call me in tears, begging for forgiveness for not protecting me better from his brother and father. (And I would always remind him how much he had done for me, even when he was disowned by his parents for the protection he was able to offer.)
I have been working on a book, although sporadically. I'm figuring he'll be in the dedication for that one.
He was the last familial ally of that generation, and I and my fellow cousins and "honorary children" of Uncle Tim and Aunt Sherry have been comparing notes and realizing what a huge feature of our lives they were, and how much they are both missed.
But they were such an incredible example of what a loving and supportive couple could be. And I have no idea if there is an afterlife, but I sure as heck hope they're dancing together right now.

This is a photo of him playing a friend's bass and wowing everyone. He gifted me his "girlfriend", Suse, many years ago when he could no longer play her, and wanted her to go to someone who would appreciate her (I've played her in front of a paying audience and didn't totally embarrass myself, but mostly I've let bass-playing friends play her), and I treasure her more now than ever. Maybe I'll even get those callouses back.
I have so much more to say, but I'm thinking it'll be a blog post soon.
In the meantime, I wanted those whose lives he's touched to know that a great man has left this world, and it's a sadder place to be right now.

Edited to add: Yes, I will be playing "The Swan" for him one last time at his service, as promised many times over the years.  ❤️
