It's now FIVE days away from Ride for Refuge, in support of the Cedar Centre, which helps children, youth, and adults recover from the impact that interpersonal childhood trauma has had on their lives. See my previous post for my (long-elevator) pitch!
Thanks to donations from Jives, Roberta, Beth, Keith, Debbie, Kelly, Liz, Maryanne, Bob, Marc and Sandra, I've now more than doubled my original goal of $500, my team Vixon's Villagers have now reached over 150% of our original goal of $2000, and the Cedar Centre is now at 82% of their $26,000 goal.
And, for bragging rights, Vixon's Villagers is in second place for Cedar Centre's ride - our team of three has raised $2,990 to date, while an 11-member team for RBC Dominion Securities has raised $4,780. And I am personally in second place to the head of the RBC Dominion Securities team. (Maybe they should hire me for all their financial needs?)
Can you help the Cedar Centre raise the remaining $4,630 to reach their goal? And can you maybe even share this with a friend, who might be able to help us exceed our goal yet again this year? Or even just tell three people about the incredible programs and services offered by the Cedar Centre for children, families, and adult survivors of childhood interpersonal trauma? With six out of ten children reporting maltreatment before the age of 15 in Canada, you could easily be not just saving a life, but helping someone to thrive.
Saturday looks like it's going to be a glorious afternoon, and Ali, Christine and I (plus Vixon and Truman, of course), are looking forward to a beautiful 5K walk through Fairy Park in Newmarket, plus a wee celebration of all you've done to help us raise money for this amazing organization.
