Hello friends!

This fall, I’m taking part in Ride for Refuge 2026 where I’ll be joining thousands of riders and walkers across Canada raising funds for charities that support people seeking hope, safety, and freedom.

Once again this year, I'm excited to be in the RIDE and fundraising for one of my favourite charities, the Cedar Centre.  This is my third year in the RIDE -- the first two, I earned a gold pin for raising over $1000, and I would love to add to my collection!

The Cedar Centre supports children who have experienced interpersonal trauma, and the adults who survived it -- including (but not limited to) physical, emotional and sexual abuse, neglect, bullying, witnessing violence, and human trafficking -- as well as providing outreach and prevention programs.

Other than my usual reasons of wanting to support an organization I could have benefitted from as a child (and younger adult), this year feels particularly important in my circle of the world, with Lara St. John's magnificent film, Dear Lara, and the Toronto Star's coverage of Lusiana Lukman's historic abuse at the Royal Conservatory of Music.  As with Lara originally sharing her own story, Lusiana's story has resulted in many more coming forward and exposing the RCM's systemic failure to protect the children entrusted into its care from sexual abuse.  Which in turn has resulted in more people seeking out places like the Cedar Centre to find a way to heal deep wounds.

The more money we raise, the faster the Cedar Centre can speed up their waiting list for this FREE program.  When one person heals, the ripple effect is no less than miraculous.
